Old gits rambling excursionists
The Ogres (old gits rambling excursionists) are a group of ramblers & cyclists centred mainly in Whitby, North Yorkshire. Most of our outings are in or around the North Yorkshire Moors. Occasionally, when our other halves are not looking, we sneak off and go a little further afield. I have put these pages together to remind us where we have been because we do get forgetful at times and are easily confused. If you meet us on the moors or half way up a mountain, please point us in the general direction of Whitby and give us a gentle push so we can find our way home.

A couple of years ago I fulfilled an ambition and walked Wainwrights Coast to Coast with Mal, one of my cycling buddies, I am not sure when it happened but some time after that we started to plan another walk. This time it was to be the West Highland Way. As we started to make plans our party began to increase, first of all Big John who had provided our support on the Coast to Coast, and Little John, my other bike buddy joined our group. Mal made the necessary bookings and shortly afterwards another friend of Mal's, Patrick and his pal Geoff made their own arrangements and were fortunate enough to be able to book into the same accommodation as the rest of us.
We all traveled to Milngavie on Thursday 31 May to meet at the Premier Inn where Macs Adventures had us booked in and I would like to say now, that the accommodation booked by them throughout the trip was top class and the whole holiday ran like clockwork.
Patrick and Geoff arrived a little late, courtesy of Scot Rail but once they had settled in we all repaired to a nearby Inn, the 'Burnbrae' for an excellent supper in a deal which offered a free bottle of wine with every two meals, working out at about £12 pp. The only downside was when we discovered that our hotel was on the flight path for Glasgow Airport with a flight every 15 minutes or so. However it was not too obtrusive.
