I set off today a little ahead of most other walkers and enjoyed a little solitude, one of the few things missing on this walk. The route follows the river Fallon for some distance and at one point in the middle of some rough moorland, I was a little surprised to see a small group of schoolboys looking for all the world as if they were on their way to school. Shortly after Derrydaroch I stopped for break while the rest of the party caught up. When we reached the railway line we had to use the 'sheep creep' which was not nearly as awkward as I had expected and this was followed by crossing below the A82 through a huge pipe before climbing up to the Old Military Road where it began to rain. At a junction of paths near Crianlarich the rain stopped and we put our waterproofs away and decided to take a break but were quickley driven on by Scotland's Curse, swarms of midges must have been lying in ambush waiting for a taste of Englishman. We were now walking through various types of forest land until we found a midge free spot by a railway viaduct where we had our delayed lunch break. After lunch we recrossed the A82 and then the River Fillan before passing Kirkton farm & the nearby cemetery before going on to Auchentyre, soon after that, we recrossed the A82 yet again. We passed by the site of the battle of Dalrigh and shortly afterwards we could see our accommodation, Glengarry House over to the right. Access was via what looked like a new footpath which ended opposite the guest house. Great care should be taken here as it involves climbing a crash barrier and crossing a fast stretch of road.
