After a night of torrential rain we were pleased to see an improvement in the weather, it was still overcast but patches of blue sky were showing here and there and it was quite a pleasant morning as we started out. Our route once we left the village climbed through woodland until open moorland was reached and then we followed one of the old military roads for about four miles in a westerly direction through a valley with mountains towering above us on either side. The road then turned North and we were soon passing through more forest estates, some of which were in the process of being felled. By now the weather was a lot brighter and we were able to enjoy the scenery for a while until we entered Nevis Forest and then all we could see were trees until we reached the road through Glen Nevis. The walk was now almost finished. The last couple of miles or so followed the main road and to me were very boring after a full week of walking through the hills and what made matters worse was the fact that there are two finishing points. The original finish is beside a busy roundabout and is something of an anti climax. The new official end is reached via a pedestrianized shopping precinct. it does have the advantage of being more suitable for those last photos
